HC orders crediting of fee of SC students into the school/college accounts

CHANDIGARH, JULY 23:  The Punjab Government has issued directions to all Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict compliance of instructions of Punjab & Haryana High Court that scholarship fees to be directly credited in the accounts of colleges/institutions and should not be charged from Scheduled Caste Students eligible for post matric scholarship.

 Disclosing this here today, Mr. Gulzar Singh Ranike, Welfare Minister said that Punjab & Haryana High Court in a Writ Petition 21682 of 2012 had clearly instructed that fee would be directly credited into the accounts of concerned colleges making it clear that colleges have to get the reimbursement of the fee from the government and institutions would not charge any fee from the students. He warned that the erring institutions flouting these instructions should remain be ready for punitive action.

Giving more details, Mr Parmjit Singh, Director Schedule Castes and Backward Classes, Punjab said that Deputy Commissioners were asked to convene a meeting of all educational institutions in the respective districts and monitor the proper implementation of Post Matric Scholarship. They had been asked to submit a detailed report to the welfare department. They should also indicate the names of the colleges flouting these instructions and punitive action would be taken against them.
