Kartarpur (Narowal, Pakistan): Darbar Sahib Baba Nanak shrine for the first time witnessed the joy and happiness lit large on the faces of the Sikhs who have gathered here from all over the world to participate in the opening of the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor by the Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan on an auspicious day.

When pilgrims entered the pious land of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, there was an upsurge of emotions among the devotees, who were awestruck by the sheer scale of the quality makeover given to the shrine. When I attended the foundation stone laying ceremony on 28th November last year, there was nothing except the Baba Nanak Darbar and well, but today everything has changed to sparkling bright with beautiful  re-done to Kartarpur Shrine, newly built parkarma around 66000 square meters of compound, Darshani Deodi, langar hall, Diwan hall, big langar kitchen and jorra ghars (place for placing devotees shoes).

Imran Khan Inaugurated the Kartarpur Sahib raising the curtain in the sky by cutting its rope covering a large size model of golden colour kirpan on which it is inscribed inauguration by Imran Khan on November 9, 2019. As the curtain was raised the atmosphere rent with high sounds of Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal.  The overjoyed Sikhs repeated the Sikh spiritual slogan more than once. The emotion took over about 5500 Sikhs who have come here for witnessing the historic event.

Navjot Sidhu lauded the efforts of both Imran Khan and PM Modi to open the corridor. He said my friend Imran Khan while announcing the opening of Kartarpur Corridor did not thought of loss or profit but just built this corridor keeping in view the Sikh religious sentiments.

The Sikhs from US, UK, Canada, Malaysia, Kenya India and many European countries have gathered here to share the joy of newly constructed compound of the Dera Baba Nanak, Kartarpur Sahib. The glimpses of this one of the Holiest of the holiest shrines of the Sikhs gave them a fresh spiritual experience.

While addressing the Sikh gathering inside the newly built compound the Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan Said he could see the happiness on the brightened faces of the Sikhs pilgrims who have gathered here from all over the world. He said that Kartarpur is like Mecca-Medina to the Sikh Community. Think how a Muslim would feel if he were able to view Medina just 3-4 kilometres away but was not allowed to visit that. if the Kashmir problem was resolved, the borders could open and trade would also start. He added that “when I became the Prime Minister, I had told Indian prime Minister Narender

Modi that our biggest problem was poverty. If we open our borders, the trade between us would jump to the new highest and thus in this way poverty could be eliminated.”

Imran Khan further emphasised that “if Modi is listening to what I am saying then I would like to say tell him that peace comes for justice, injustice can only breed antagonism.

Khan announced that the Pakistan government would shortly open 400 Hindu temples, many more Sikh gurdwaras, Christian churches, and Buddhist temples and Taxila University.

“We are going to promote religious tourism in Pakistan so that people from all over the world visit and see their shrines and historical places.

Cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu made a very aggressive and emotional speech said While making reference to his Jaffy (hug) with Pakistan Army Chief Omar Bajwa , he said that “ today I will explain to people around the world what my jiffy meant. If one Jaffy gets us Kartarpur Corridor, let us hug a hundred time and the LoC issue would be resolved.  I am thanking Modi ji also, it doesn't matter if we have political differences, doesn't matter if my life is dedicated to the Gandhi family. I am sending a Munnabhai MBBS-style (A popular Hindi movie) hug to you Modi Sahab for this," said Sidhu.

In his speech, Qureshi said he wanted “this message of love from Kartarpur” to reach Kashmir, too.

“The Berlin Wall came down on this day, November 9, and the LoC too can come down. PM Modi said thanks to Imran Khan for the Kartarpur corridor. As Foreign Minister, I say, Mr Modi you can also give a chance to Imran Khan to say thanks to you — by lifting curfew in Kashmir, by removing the communication blockade When we finally entered the pious land of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, there was an upsurge of emotions among the devotees, who were awestruck by the sheer scale of the quality makeover given to the shrine.

Playing the perfect host, Pakistan PM Imran Khan traveled up to the immigration terminal on a low-floor bus to welcome the VIP members of the jatha, including former PM Dr Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur, Union Ministers Hardeep Puri and Harsimrat Kaur Badal, CM Capt. Amarinder Singh, Members of his cabinet,  former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and MLA Navjot Singh Sidhu, besides MPs, MLAs, and other eminent Sikhs.

Unmindful of Imran Khan and his Cabinet colleagues raising the Kashmir issue at the inaugural function, we were all too immersed in cherishing every moment of our two-and-a-half hour stay at the shrine. Dr Manmohan Singh and Capt Amarinder Singh were seen soaked in the eternal bliss, while Sidhu was literally mobbed by pilgrims, as everyone, including Imran Khan, credited him for the initiative

. Since the entry was free on the inaugural day, it took little time for the authorities to issue entry tickets and complete immigration check.
