Lat time when Sidhu had gone for attending the foundation stone ceremony, he was a Cabinet Minister in Punjab Government, but now he is an MLA (Member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly).

In a letter to the India’s external Minister Sidhu wrote: “As a humble Sikh, it shall be a great honour to pay obeisance to our great Guru Baba Nanak on this historic occasion and connect to our roots,” said Navjot Singh Sidhu.

A day after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan  grant some relief to the Sikh pilgrims and clarified that the Sikh pilgrims from India would only require a valid ID (In India it is Aadhar Card, equivalent to the Shanakhti Card in Pakistan) and not a passport to travel to Kartarpur, former Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday sought permission from Union External Affairs Ministry to attend the inaugural ceremony of the corridor in Pakistan.

In a letter to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Sidhu has stated s that he had been invited by the Pakistan Government for the opening ceremony of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor on November 9. “As a humble Sikh, it shall be a great honour to pay obeisance to our great Guru Baba Nanak on this historic occasion and also connect to our roots,” the Imran’s friend wrote.

“Therefore, I may be permitted to visit Pakistan for this auspicious occasion,” Sidhu further added.

Sidhu also wrote a similar letter to Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh in connection with this.
