Railway traffic remained disrupted in Punjab due to farmer dharnas

PHAGWARA: UP and Down line rail traffic remained badly disrupted at many rail sections including Jalandhar-Amritsar Rail Section due to dharnas organized by the farmers on various rail sections Friday evening.

When contacted Station Superintendent Phagwara Gian Chand confirmed it and told this correspondent on late Friday night that 12412 Amritsar—Chandigarh Intercity Express,13050DN Amritsar—Howrah Express,15212 Amritsar—Darbanga Jan Nayak Express,12904 Amritsar-Mumbai Golden Express,14632 Amritsar—Dehradoon Express,have been cancelled by the railway authorities today.Meanwhile 12498 Shane-Punjab could proceed from Jalandhar,19424 Ahmedabad Express could ply from Jalandhar to Ahmedabad via Phagwara—Ludhiana route in place of its scheduled route of Jalandhar— Firozepur—Delhi—Ahmedabad, while 12029 UP JanShatawadi Express was terminated at Beas Railway Station and 12030 DN Shatawadi Express could proceed for New Delhi from Beas today evening one and half hour behind the schedule.Station Superintendent said that 11810 Dn Tata moorie Express train could ply from Jammu—Pathankot—Jalandhar Cantt route in place of its normal route of Jammu-Pathankot—Amritsar—Jalandhar route. 

22429 Delhi Pathankot Express was strandard at Phagwara railway Station for one and half an hour,13049 Howrah—Amritsar Express at phagwara for one hour. Meanwhile Railway Sources told that 11057 UP Dadar Express Train could ply via Pathankot—Amritsar in place of Phagwara—Jalandhar—Amritsar and moreover this train remain strandard at Phagwara railway station for 40 minutes and could proceed with new crew only. The Normal Rail Traffic could be restored after 8PM tonight,but most of the trains are now running several hours late.
