Chandigarh, Sept 5 (PKB): The brutal broadaylight fake encounter killing of two Dalit boys by the police in Jamalpur recently, is a direct fallout of the Badal government policy to promote and honour encounter specialist cops like Mr. Sumedh Singh Saini and Mr. Izhar Alam for extrajudicial killings in Punjab, according to former MLA Sukhpal Khera.

The Akali’s during those days severely criticized and accused him of eliminating many Sikh youth in stage managed fake encounters. Similarly, Mr. Izhar Alam husband of sitting  Malerkotla MLA, had created his own  infamous “Alam-Sena”, to eliminate many young Sikh boys in extrajudicial killings through these police cats. Only recently the family of one Sukhpal Singh of V. Kala Afghana, Distt. Gurdaspur, is fighting a prolonged legal battle against a blue eyed IGP of the Badals, against his killing in a fake encounter in the year 1994.

He said it appears the Badal duo once vocal critics of fake stage managed encounters by the Punjab Police, have done a complete turn around and are now promoting and shielding those responsible for these extra judicial killings.

Khera maintained that to substantiate my point, I cite the out of turn promotion of Mr. Sumedh Saini IPS as DGP Punjab Police, as a perfect and befitting example of such officers, being honoured by the Badals. Needless to mention, Mr. Sumedh Saini DGP is not only facing grave charges of abduction, kidnapping and elimination of three innocents in the special CBI Court at Delhi, but is also responsible for the elimination of the father and uncle of Prof. Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, besides the disappearance of a young engineer boy of former IAS officer Mr. Multani.

Khera blamed the brutal killing of the two Dalit boys at Jamalpur recently, is also a part of this larger conspiracy to eliminate people in fake encounters, at the behest of the ruling party people. The govt. may have suspended an IPS officer and taken mild action against erring police officials, but no action has been taken against the Akali Sarpanch Rajwinder Kaur responsible for the murders. Had it not been for the autopsy report indicating killings from a point blank range, the junior Badal would have absolved the police officers as well.

In today’s modern world, pointed out Khera  no sane person can justify such killings, even in the name of fighting terrorism or a nation’s war, as we are armed with an appropriate criminal justice system under the constitution. Therefore, any such fake encounter like the Jamalpur killings, is nothing but exercising extrajudicial powers, for which there should be no pardon.

Hence, the Badal duo must explain their extreme dichotomy and double standards of once being votaries against fake encounter killings, now promoting those very officers out of turn and according them high political positions. If they are genuinely serious to curb the menace of fake encounters, let them remove Mr. Saini as DGP and suspend from primary membership of SAD, Mr. Izhar Alam, failing which they would be considered a part of this illegal and unconstitutional methodology.

Therefore, Congress party reiterates that it has no faith in the Punjab Police under officers like Mr. Sumedh Saini DGP and only a CBI inquiry as demanded by the family of the deceased can bring out the truth.
