Forces harassment compelled Pervaiz to join militant ranks: Family

Kupwara, Sep 06 (KNS): The family of a slain Hizb Divisional Commander Pervaiz Ahmad Wani who was killed in an encounter in Sopore on Tuesday said that “harassment by the forces compelled” their son to join the militant ranks agian.

He said that following his release, Pervaiz started working as a driver of a passenger vehicle here to earn his livelihood.


Pervaiz’s father, Sanaullah Wani, resident of Guloora Handwara while talking to KNS correspondent said that his son had joined the militant ranks in the year 2002.
“Pervaiz was later arrested in the year 2007 and was released after spending two and a half year in prison,” he said.
He said that following his release, Pervaiz started working as a driver of a passenger vehicle here to earn his livelihood.
“But, the forces continued to harass my son by one way or another, which forced him to pick up the arms again in the year 2012,” Sanaullah said.
Pervaiz along with his associate, Naeem Ahmad Najar son of Ghulam Hassan Najar resident of Shelpora Brath, Sopore were killed in an encounter that raged between the forces and militants in Sopore area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district. (KNS)
