No instructions to punish those found working on holidays

Jalandhar, August 7- Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma today categorically said that the state government has not issued any instructions regarding punishment to those officers/officials found working in the government offices during holidays.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the news regarding this being in circulation on social media was totally baseless and far away from the facts. He said that there were no such instructions by the government in this regard and the news item in circulation was highly misleading. Mr. Sharma said that as per the stipulated norms every state government employee was duty-bound to perform the duty whenever desired by the state government.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the officers /officials of the district administration must not get swayed away by such news. He said that the officers /officials were governed by the service rules, which envisages that a public servant must take the call of duty, whenever required in larger public interest. Mr. Sharma called upon the officers /officials to perform their duty diligently to serve the people in right earnest.
