To showcase the positive image and attract youth to join the Indian Armed Forces, a drive, “Know Your Forces” is being undertaken by the three-sister services from time to time.

As a part of the drive, a guided tour and static display was organised by the Indian Air Force (IAF) at Chandigarh today for the civil population.

Various aviation and defence systems were on display for the visitors. The systems on display included heavy lift aircraft IL-76, medium lift aircraft An-32, world’s biggest helicopter Mi-26, frontline fighter MiG-27/29, surface to air missiles and other defence systems.

Students from schools and colleges in and around Chandigarh were invited to witness the display. The aim was to educate the target group about the role and functioning of the IAF during peace and war.

More than 1600 students witnessed the display. Families from nearby defence and paramilitary formations also witnessed the exhibits. In addition to the aviation and defence systems, various motivational and publicity stalls were also on display.

The students were provided with information on joining the air force. They  were also motivated to accept the challenges and adventure by joining the IAF.
