Identification of militants being ascertained

Srinagar, Jul 15 (KNS): Three militants were killed in an ongoing gunfight that raged between forces and militants in Satoora village of Tral in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, Police said.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Range, Munir Ahmad Khan told KNS that the operation in Tral has been ended. “Three militants have been killed while the operation has been ended,” he said.
He said that the identification of the slain militants is being ascertained.

Source said that the gunfight raged after the forces launched search operation following the specific information about the presence of militants in Satoora forest.

The militants according to sources opened fire upon the forces, which triggered an encounter during which two militants have been killed.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted between the youth and forces in Satoora village after the news of encounter spread while the village also observed a complete shutdown today.

Reports said that scores of protesters sustained minor injuries during the clashes who were shifted to PHC Aripal for treatment.

Meanwhile, mobile Internet services have also been snapped in Tral area as a precautionary measure.
