Karachi: A 15-year-old boy died after being struck by a stray bullet from aerial firing as celebrations rang across Pakistan over its cricket team's Champions Trophy triumph over archrivals India.

Syed Hussain Raza Zaidi was standing on the balcony of his house when he told his father, “Papa some men holding guns are firing (now) that Pakistan are the new champions“. Around 9.30pm four men on the street were firing shots in the air, one of which hit Hussain in the ribs and passed into his stomach.

His parents took him to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre to but he had lost too much blood by the time they reached the hospital. “He breathed his last at 2am,“ Hussain's uncle said.
