PANIPAT: Industrialist's minor kid hits car into auto, kills 5

Five people, including two women and three men were killed when a 16-year-old rammed his Honda city into their auto. The accident occurred on a Flyover at Siwah village on New Delhi-Panipat road on Tuesday evening, police said.

After 'truce' on demands, Jats roll back Delhi blockade

Jats today called off their quota agitation scheduled for Monday in the national capital, following a truce that was reached after a meeting between the leaders of the community and the Haryana government. Jat leaders decided to call off their agitation after a marathon four-hour meeting with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and two Union Ministers Birender Singh and P P Chaudhary who both are Jats.

Haryana on high alert as Jats begins quota agitation, prohibitory orders imposed

Haryana has gone on maximum alert as a fresh round of quota agitation called by a section of Jats began on Sunday. Apart from the state police and over 7,000 home guards, 37 companies of central forces have been deployed across the state around sensitive locations including National Highway 1 (popularly known as GT road), state highways, railways tracks and Munak canal that takes Yamuna river water to New Delhi. Authorities have also clamped prohibitory orders in these areas banning assembly of four or more people.

Mukarba Chowk-Panipat stretch of the National Highway-1 would be made 12-laned

The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, has said that the Mukarba Chowk-Panipat stretch of the National Highway-1 would be made 12-laned and 27 railways overbridges and underbridges would be constructed on this stretch. A sports university would be set up at Rai in Sonepat district and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway would be completed within the next 400 days.  

Haryana award of Rs 4 crore to Silver medalist Deepa Malik

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Tuesday announced a cash reward of Rs four crore for Deepa Malik who scripted history by winning a silver medal in shot put at the 2016 Rio Paralympics Games.Congratulating Malik, who hails from the state's Sonipat  district, he said the award would be given to her under the new sports policy for winning a medal in Paralympics.

ex-judge Garg accused of wife's murder send to Judicial lock-up

 special CBI magistrate of Panchkula on Tuesday sent Ravneet Garg, a former chief judicial magistrate (CJM) of Kaithal who had been arrested for alleged involvement in his wife's murder in July 2013, to judicial custody. Ravneet was produced before a CBI magistrate as his custody ended on Tuesday. While producing the accused judicial officer before the court, CBI counsel informed that he was no more required for custodial interrogation.

Dhingra Commission to submit report on Vadra, other land deals

CHANDIGARH : The one-man Justice S.N. Dhingra Commission of Inquiry set up by the Haryana government to probe controversial land deals in Gurgaon, including those of Congress president Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra, will submit its report to the BJP-led state government on Wednesday.

Haryana's ex-speaker jailed for 7 years jail in 23-year-old corruption case

A special CBI court in Delhi sentenced former speaker of Haryana assembly Satbir Kadian to seven years in jail in a 23-year-old case of financial misappropriation of Indian Farmers Fertilizers Cooperative Limited's (IFFCO) funds. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) functionary was also told to pay a fine of Rs 50 lakh. Kadian was IFFCO chairman when the misappropriation took place in 1991.
